Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Merry Christmas🎅 and a Happy New Year🔔

Hello everyone,

There is a festive buzz in the air here today.  Writing the Christmas message to you guys is the last thing I need to do before I lock up the office for the holidays.

It’s not been a brilliant year for us to be honest.  One of the biggest issues has been that App Game Kit Studio, the software we use to create the apps and games you all love so much, has basically been retired.  There is still an active community supporting and maintaining AGK Studio, but sadly only the Windows/Google Play versions.  (Zaxxan in particular has gone above and beyond with his work on updating it.)

This has left us unable to update any of our iOS apps and games for some time now. 🙁

Obviously, this isn’t ideal. So for the last year we have been investigating other development platforms and weighing up the pros and cons of rewriting our catalogue of apps and games. As well as how to do it with the least disruption to you, the people who use our software.

We have managed to update all our current Google Play Store apps recently, but unfortunately, our Amazon and Apple store users are going to have to wait a little longer.

As for the next year, although there is a certain air of uncertainty, we do have a few things in the works, as well as trying to give Loomy Night Light it’s long overdue Apple update.

We have started work on our first Steam release.  It’s a point and click adventure set in space and written using Unity.  It’s early days yet, but here are a couple of screen shots to give you a feel for what we are aiming for.

We also have one last new game written in AGK to release. I’m sure it’s been mentioned before. Flappy-vaders is a casual mobile game, designed and developed publicly by Dave on his Dev with Dave blog.

It’s a retro styled endless scroller with a simple and familiar game mechanic. The pixel art is styled on the consoles of the 80s. It has lively arcadey electronic music, and above all else, it’s great fun to play!

Follow us on any of the social media channels linked below for news on software updates, new releases, behind the scenes footage, and the occasional meme.

And with that, I think I am done. All that is left is for me to turn off the lights and make sure the doors are all locked up before I leave.

Merry Christmas everyone! I’ll see you all in 2026!
