Introducing Loomy Night Light!!
It’s been eight years since we first launched Best Night Light on the Google Play Store.
Since then it has been launched on the Apple App Store and the Amazon App Store, and been downloaded over 1,000,000 times!
Today It’s my privilege to announce that we are renaming the app to Loomy Night Light.
Why change the name?
Last year Google announced new rules relating to the naming of Apps on it’s store. These new rules mean that sadly we can no longer use the word Best in the name of our little app 😞
Initially we were saddened by this news, because we feel we have a bond with our users, and in turn Best Night Light has built quite a reputation for being a quality app which can genuinely help you sleep better at night. There are plenty of reviews on all three stores which can attest to this.
But once the shock had worn off, we started to see the benefits of rebranding.
How did we choose the name?
The name Loomy was chosen because it sounded like lumen, the Latin word for light. It’s short, snappy and fun. We also thought it sounded friendly and reliable.
What happens next?
Over the next few months we will be working on getting all three of the store versions of the app updated with the new branding.
The current version of Best Night Light you have installed on your device now will be replaced automatically with the updated Loomy Night Light app when it is released (unless you have deactivated auto-updates)
So just carry on using the app like usual 🙂

Merry Christmas Everyone!
It’s only a few days till Christmas now, and this is pretty the last thing I do before I lock up the office and go home to spend the festive season with my family 🙂
So I’d like to say Merry Christmas and a Happy new year to each and every one of you, as well as an absolutely MASSIVE Thank you who has downloaded Best Night Light!
If you follow Best Night Light on Facebook, you’ll probably have noticed that we reached 1,000,000 downloads this July! Which is absolutely amazing for me, lol. I feel like a rock star! 😀
We also have some huge news regarding Best Night Light, there is a huge update planned for the new year. Not only are we freshening up the UI, and adding new background sounds and lava lamp colour schemes, but we are also rebranding! Best Night Light will have a new name soon!
Please follow Best Night Light on Facebook for more news about the update!
Until next time!
I’ll be back next year with news about the update for Best Night Light (Including the new name!) so until then, I hope you have a lovely Christmas and a brilliant new year!
Merry Christmas and a Happy new year!
As the year draws to a close once more, it’s time for me to dust down the faithful old blog which I fear has been neglected this last twelve months, so that I can wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year!
2021 has been another odd year with the pandemic still hanging over our heads like a grey cloud. But it looks like the vaccines are working and fingers crossed the return to normality I was hoping for last year will soon be here.
We’ve got some exciting news coming up for 2022!
Best Night Light
Firstly I’m happy to announce that Best Night Light reached 1,000,000 downloads in July this year. I’m blown away by the support you guys have shown this little app. Thank you each and every one of you who has downloaded it.
Secondly, we’ve got a massive Best Night Light update coming! This is going to include a change of name, as unfortunately the current name has fallen foul of some new regulations the Google Play Store are insisting upon.
We’re also updating the UI, adding new back ground sounds and lava lamp modes, as well as a few other things.
More news on the update and the change of name soon!
(We’re also going to be pushing out a minor update to Best Night Light soon just to keep libraries updated for store compliance)
We also have a new game in development, Flappy-vaders! Which is an endless scroller game with a retro style.
The video is from an earlier build and the game has progressed quite a lot since then, but it’s enough to give you the rough idea of what the game is about.
You can use the coins you collect to buy upgrades and power-ups to help you play further.
That’s all folks!
I hope you all have the best Christmas, and I’ll be back in the new year!
It’s that time of year again where I like to reach out to each and every one of you to say firstly, Thank you for downloading and using Best Night Light! and secondly to wish you a very merry Christmas and a Happy new year!
2020 has been a very odd year what with Covid, lockdowns and the like, but with vaccines on the way I hope that things will be returning to normal in the not too distant future.
We have another maintenance update for Best Night Light planned for next year, which will fix a few bugs which have been reported to us, as well as updating all the libraries to ensure Best Night Light remains as secure as we can make it.
I’m also happy to announce that Best Night Light has been officially downloaded over 850,000 times! Helping people to get a better nights sleep in almost every country across the globe 🙂 I’d like to imagine we’re going to hit over a MILLION downloads in 2021!
If you have any suggestions on how we can improve Best Night Light, or bugs to report then please get in touch with us using the following email address…

Anyway, once again, let me thank you for using our App, and to wish you a Merry Christmas, and all the best for the coming year!
What with Halloween being just round the corner, we thought we’d help out with a fun activity for children (and adults alike) to enjoy 🙂
Simply download the free spooky faces by pressing the blue download button below.
Then either print the whole thing and trace a mouth, nose and eyes onto an A4 piece of paper or card, or use some graphics software to build your face and then print it out.
It’s best to put your face in the middle of the paper when you do it.
Next, using a craft knife, cut out the black parts of the face. Remember knives can be dangerous so make sure you have permission, and adult supervision where necessary.
Lastly wrap the piece of card round your device, so the face is over the screen, and tape the two ends of the card together to make a sleeve. You might need to trim a little off the top and/or bottom of the card for a better fit.
Now you can simply start up Best Night Light using whichever light mode you like, pop your device into your spooky face sleeve, and enjoy 🙂
My favourites are shown below in the video, firstly the Emerald City Lava light mode, and Inferno, another Lava light mode.
And there you go. I hope you have as much fun making them as I did.
As the year draws to an end, I’d like to take this time to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year for 2020!
It’s been quite a year for us here at the Warriors of the Cucumber. Best Night Light has gone from strength to strength, having been downloaded over 500,000 times now. We have also been busy trying to update and publish all our back catalogue onto iOS and Amazon, although this has taken much much longer than we originally anticipated (Not helped in part by the Office Mac being out of action for a month after updating to OS Catalina went wrong, Massive thanks to Rick, Paul and Mike at The Game Creators for helping us sort it out).
I’m confident though that 2020 will be a great year. We’re planning on having the whole back catalogue finished, as well as a couple of new games released, but more news on these in the next few months.
And that’s that, this blog post is one of the last things I need to do before closing up the office for the Christmas break. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and we’ll be back in the new year!
Merry Christmas everyone
Today, not only did we release an update to the Google Play version of PRT featuring some updates and bug fixes, but we also launched the app on the Amazon and Apple app stores!
Percentage Resolution Tool is ideal for programmers who work using a percentage resolution system. It allows you to quickly and easily convert pixel values to percentages and back.
It was originally created as an in house tool, developed to save time when converting sprite sizes and positions from pixel values to percentages. We found it to be so helpful that we decided to release it publicly
It feels like a while since I last wrote one of these; Christmas has been and gone, and the Winter is starting to fade away, and the beginnings of Spring are upon us. So without further ado, let’s dive straight in…
Work is progressing steadily the last couple of months. A few weeks ago we had three separate parts, The Menu’s, The basic gameplay, and the hangar scene; Now all three have been combined into one playable part! It’s still quite a way off being finished, but here’s where we’re at so far..
All efforts this last couple of weeks have been on creating new media assets for background scenery around the arena. The picture below shows the current progress (The white cube in the middle is just a placeholder, marking out where the Arena will go)
If you are interested in hearing more about the development side of things, there is a Snakerunner DevLog >here<
The next tasks, once the scenery is finished, will be to get the challenges working, progressing through the levels, and getting the rest of the menu system working.
Best Night Light:
Lot’s of Best Night Light news this month. There seems to be no stopping our popular night light app!
Firstly, barely a week into the new year, we reached 200000+ downloads! We feel like rock stars! 😊
Secondly, plans are afoot for a new update for Google Play and Amazon. This update sees the introduction of soothing background sounds and some new colour sets for the lava lamp as well as the usual bug fixes.
The third and possibly most exciting thing this month is that work is underway preparing for releasing Best Night Light on the iOS store!
Keepy Uppy King
Boom!! Straight in at the top of the Keepy Uppy King score board!! Congratulations to LargeGorilla85397 on their astonishing score! beefycfc is now in 2nd, and the12thplaya is in 3rd!
If you’ve not tried Keepy Uppy King, then feel free to download it free, from Google Play!
And that’s all we have time for this month. I hope to see you all in the next update around the end of April.
Until next time..
Best Night Light Update
Today we have rolled out a new version of Best Night Light to the Google Play store*. This update contains mostly bug fixes but we have managed to squeeze in a couple of additions for you all!
The first new thing is the option to remove the bokeh particles from the Lava Light. (The bokeh are the little white circles which move across the screen). There have been a couple of requests for this feature, so we have added it 🙂
The second new thing, isn’t really a new thing at all. It’s the welcome return of the Trophies! There are 6 to collect, but what exactly you have to do to unlock them is hidden.
Best Night Light is available from the Google Play Store, click the link below…
* Amazon App Store update coming soon. iOS release coming soon.
As the last few hours of September tick away, Autumn is well and truly upon us. The weather has changed like the seasons, and a whole new batch of really awesome TV shows will soon be upon us.
It’s been quite a hectic time here at WotC towers. We’ve been trying to keep up with all the various Game and App events taking place all over the world. Sadly we hadn’t attended any this year, but a few of our associates did and the social medias were full of exciting tales and brilliant photos.
We have plenty of news of our own however, so without further ado, let’s get on with it.
The first, and most exciting bit of news we have this month, is that we have a new game just going through the last phases of beta testing.
Keepy Uppy King is the classic playground game of keepy uppy on your Mobile! It’s simple to pick up and play, but it takes real skill and practice to master it.
It uses the Google Play Services High Score Board to keep track of scores, and see how you’re doing against your friends!
In fact, as soon as I have finished this blog post, I’m going to have another go at the Beta myself and try and take back 1st place! Which was snatched away by BeefyCFC earlier on today.
It’s all in the hands of the beta testers now. Assuming no huge show stopping bugs are found, we’re hoping to have it released in the next few weeks! So stay tuned for more news as it happens! If you wanted to join our beta team, please drop an email to email@example.com
Unfortunately, progress on Night of the Endless Dead has not been so forthcoming. Although we have a great selection of models to use for the players and zombies, we are having a spot of bother getting them to animate properly.
We have a couple of ideas to try and I’m sure we’ll be back on track soon, but for the time being this game is being put on a back burner.
Whilst the animation problem is being worked on, all focus is now on getting Snakerunner completed. For those who don’t know, Snakerunner is a re-imagining of the classic snake game, in 3d, with spaceships!
The video above is taken from an earlier version intended for PC, the Mobile version has a completely redesigned UI to make it easier for touch screens.
We have been working on this game on and off since 2003! And depending on how well received it is on Android and iOS, we’re considering making a PC version afterwards and distributing it on Steam! (But this is a long way off yet!)
The last thing we have been working on this month is Best Night Light. Our Night light app has now been downloaded over 170,000 times! Making it our most successful app by far.
The biggest changes to this are in preparation for the forthcoming iOS release, but there are also one or two other changes/bug fixes.
The biggest one of these is removal of the trophies. This is only a temporary measure while we look into a trophy system which doesn’t require quite so many permissions as the Google Play Services one, as there seemed to be a few users who really objected to this.
That’s nearly all the time we have I’m afraid, but before you go, here’s the usual round up of the bestest and funniest things from the internets from this month.
Watch as the guy from Dark Souls 3 picks fights with any and all and then rolls to evade attack!
This branch of game not letting a broken shutter spoil their day.
Side quest cat made us all chuckle.
The er, the er, that’s all folks! Or at least for this month! I’ll be back next month with another fun packed news update!
Until next time..
