Another news blog…

Intro

Hello Guys,

As the summer draws to a close, and the darker evenings start creeping in on us, Autumns brings with it a time of change. None more so here at the WotC. In light (no pun intended) of BNL’s success, and with our first game nearing completion (more news on this later in the post) thoughts have been turning to the future. Already there is a shiny new 8 core desktop PC waiting to be assembled to take on the role of main development PC, and there is talk of expanding our stable of test devices to include an iPhone 7+ and a Galaxy Note 7! We are also hoping to get a Mac and an iOS developer licence so we can finally start releasing on iPhones 😀

Updates

Best QR has been updated! As well as the usual DMGT improvements/bug fixes, we have added a very handy new ‘Share’ button when you encode/decode a QR. This allows you to send your image/text to any other app on your device which can make use of it! It makes it a lot easier to upload QR’s to cloud drives, or to use the decoded text in a word processor

The updated version of Percentage Resoltion Tool is currently undergoing the final stages of Beta testing. There are no new features, it’s purely bug fixes and template improvements

For those who didn’t know, PRT is tool which can convert pixel values to percentages and back, it’s very handy for AGK coders who work in the percentage system

BQR and PRT are both available to download, for free, from the Google Play Store

Coming Soon

As I mentioned earlier in the post, we are only days away from fixing all the bugs in the beta test version of Colour Name Quiz Advance.

CNQA is our first game to be published. It’s a fairly straight forward quiz game with two types of question, two game modes and three levels of difficulty. There is also an abundance of trophies to collect and share with your facebook buddies

There will be more news on this as it happens

And that is the end of this post. All the latest news concerning upcoming and existing titles will be posted here, so keep checking back. Also please don’t forget to Like our page on Facebook!

Best QR Updated

bqr-web-page-header-550x86

A new version of Best QR was published at the store this afternoon. Most of the updates were internal stuff like updating to latest versions of libraries or template modules; but this update does bring with it the exciting new ‘Share’ function. After you have encoded/decoded a QR, there is now the option to share the image or text via any app on your device which can use the relevant media.

Best QR is a great app if you want to use QR codes, It can encode and decode them, as well as offering intelligent action buttons depending on the content of the QR.

Best QR is available, as always, free from the Google Play Store. Click the link below to download it.

Best Night Light updated

bnl-website-banner

The new update to Best Night Light went live on the Google Play Store today. It includes an update to the User Interface to make it a little more intuitive to use, there is also the addition of some new Lava Lamp modes as well as some general bug fixes and behind the scenes stuff.

Best Night Light is still our most popular app by far, having been downloaded almost 20,000 times now. It’s a great way to add some gentle atmospheric lighting to your personal space. It features 3 modes, a Night light which shines a gentle white light from your phone screen. You can set this to a timer if you like so it exits after a set amount of time; a Mood light which gently fades between a random series of colours; and a Lava lamp which fills your screen with colourful swirls and whirls to help you relax.

We’ve also given the Google Play Store page a bit of a refresh by completely redoing the screen shots, making them look a lot better (If you ask me, lol 🙂 )

Ninja Name Generator Update…

This evening a new update of Ninja Name Generator was uploaded to the Google play store. It contains updates to the latest DMGT template files, and also addressed a bug in the previous version which caused sharing to Facebook to take an unprecedented amount of time to work.

For those of you who didn’t already know, Ninja Name Generator is a fun little app which tells you what your and your friends ninja names are. All you have to do is type a name into the box and press the go button.

You can share your results with your facebook friends and twitter followers

The Future is bright…

Hello World,

Welcome to the first of what will hopefully become regular blog posts. It seems that the last month was a very busy month for us here at the WotC, and we have some exciting news to share with you all.

bnl-website-banner

Firstly, Best Night Light has been downloaded over 10,000 times! It’s our first app to reach this landmark figure, and it’s still climbing. If you haven’t already downloaded it, you should 😛 lol

There is an update planned for BNL, which will add a couple of new Lava lamp modes, updates the UI a little, and some other general bug fixes/updates to DMGT. More news of this to follow.

The next exciting news item is the nearing completion of our first actual game, Colour Name Quiz Advance. It’s passed a limited alpha testing period, whilst we waited for the last couple of features being coded and is now undergoing a further period of beta testing whilst we iron out all the creases.

The game is a simple quiz game, where your knowledge of colours and their names is tested to it’s limits in either of two exciting game modes. Against the clock, where every second counts and Electrocution, where the wrong answer loses you health. There are trophies to win and share with your Facebook friends

We are aiming to release this game on the Google play store for free at the end of June.

And that brings us to the third and final bit of news, Having completed CNQA (all bar a little bug bashing); the next project in the pipeline is Snakerunner!

Yes that’s right, everybody’s favourite “Snake, but in 3d with a spaceship” is coming to Android in the not too distant future. It’s too early in the project to speculate about release dates, but news will be posted here as it happens 🙂

And on that note I shall bid you farewell, as I tuck in to another delicious slice of home made banoffee pie and carry on hunting down bugs in CNQA, until next time

Peace x

Best QR Published on Google Play Store…

bqr-web-page-header-550x86

Tonight we are proud to announce the release of Best QR to the Google Play Store.

Best QR is our very own QR Code reader/creator for your Android. It’s completely free to download and use.

It’s easy to read a QR code with Best QR and it’s intuitive user interface. Best QR can intelligently work out if it’s read a website URL, an email address or just some text and provides you with a button with a relevant action.

It can also create a QR code just as easily, and saves it to you Android for you to share, send or use however you see fit.

Merry Christmas!

Firstly, Let me wish all of you guys out there a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Secondly, I’d like to announce that the Beta version of Best QR has just been uploaded to the Play Store this evening. As soon as I have a download link for it, I will post it on the Testers group. If you want to join the Beta testers group then send an email to betateam@warriorsofthecucumber.

Thirdly, I’m hoping that 2016 is the year when the WotC release their first proper game to the Android store. But more on that in future blogs.

Unexpected website downtime…

I noticed late last night that the WotC Website was broken. Not quite sure what happened, but it’s all back up and running now. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Out with the old and in with the new…

The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed the new website layout.  It was decided to change the site to something a little bit more modern.  Over the coming days (weeks?) there will be a few more minor changes to content and blog.  Keep checking back 🙂

Some new stuff…

In the last few weeks we have managed to push out not only a complete rewrite of the Bitmap font creator (as well as a couple of bug fix updates); but we also released a new product – The Atlas Image Data Generator! A handy little tool which greatly speeds up the generation of subset image data when making a sprite sheet.
