Welcome to the first of what will hopefully become regular blog posts. It seems that the last month was a very busy month for us here at the WotC, and we have some exciting news to share with you all.
Firstly, Best Night Light has been downloaded over 10,000 times! It’s our first app to reach this landmark figure, and it’s still climbing. If you haven’t already downloaded it, you should 😛 lol
There is an update planned for BNL, which will add a couple of new Lava lamp modes, updates the UI a little, and some other general bug fixes/updates to DMGT. More news of this to follow.
The next exciting news item is the nearing completion of our first actual game, Colour Name Quiz Advance. It’s passed a limited alpha testing period, whilst we waited for the last couple of features being coded and is now undergoing a further period of beta testing whilst we iron out all the creases.
The game is a simple quiz game, where your knowledge of colours and their names is tested to it’s limits in either of two exciting game modes. Against the clock, where every second counts and Electrocution, where the wrong answer loses you health. There are trophies to win and share with your Facebook friends
We are aiming to release this game on the Google play store for free at the end of June.
And that brings us to the third and final bit of news, Having completed CNQA (all bar a little bug bashing); the next project in the pipeline is Snakerunner!
Yes that’s right, everybody’s favourite “Snake, but in 3d with a spaceship” is coming to Android in the not too distant future. It’s too early in the project to speculate about release dates, but news will be posted here as it happens 🙂
And on that note I shall bid you farewell, as I tuck in to another delicious slice of home made banoffee pie and carry on hunting down bugs in CNQA, until next time
Tonight we are proud to announce the release of Best QR to the Google Play Store.
Best QR is our very own QR Code reader/creator for your Android. It’s completely free to download and use.
It’s easy to read a QR code with Best QR and it’s intuitive user interface. Best QR can intelligently work out if it’s read a website URL, an email address or just some text and provides you with a button with a relevant action.
It can also create a QR code just as easily, and saves it to you Android for you to share, send or use however you see fit.
Firstly, Let me wish all of you guys out there a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Secondly, I’d like to announce that the Beta version of Best QR has just been uploaded to the Play Store this evening. As soon as I have a download link for it, I will post it on the Testers group. If you want to join the Beta testers group then send an email to betateam@warriorsofthecucumber.
Thirdly, I’m hoping that 2016 is the year when the WotC release their first proper game to the Android store. But more on that in future blogs.
I noticed late last night that the WotC Website was broken. Not quite sure what happened, but it’s all back up and running now. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed the new website layout. It was decided to change the site to something a little bit more modern. Over the coming days (weeks?) there will be a few more minor changes to content and blog. Keep checking back 🙂
In the last few weeks we have managed to push out not only a complete rewrite of the Bitmap font creator (as well as a couple of bug fix updates); but we also released a new product – The Atlas Image Data Generator! A handy little tool which greatly speeds up the generation of subset image data when making a sprite sheet.
It appears that a WIP page has been visible to the public for a week or two now. A large portion of the page was generated by the Samual L. Ipsum generator. We hope it didn’t cause offence to anyone, and wrists have been slapped appropriately.
It is with regret that I have to inform you that the Android release date for Slime Blast has been pushed back a month or two.
The original deadline was perhaps a little optimistic in the best of situations, but unfortunately family illness led to one member of the team being unable to contribute much for a couple of weeks, and we are still waiting on final graphics for the project.
As ever, work continues and more news will follow soon.
First of all, let me start by wishing all you guys and girls out there a Happy New Year 😀
It’s going to be a busy year for us here at the WotC with lots of new and exciting projects on the way, as well as finishing off a few trusty old ones. And for those of you who are following such things, here is a rough layout of our plan for 2012…
Dave’s Game Template
Still actively in development, and we are currently writing a simplified mobile equivalent of the template as well. Our first mobile game has an estimated release date of the start of Q2, on the Android platform with the iOS version hopefully at the start of Q3.
There are currently Two titles in development for Windows platforms which use DGT, which we hope will be completed around the beginning of Q3 as well.
Bitmap Font Creator
Progress has been slow on this project. Although we do have an almost functional C# rewrite of the app, the initial debugging is taking a lot longer than anticipated. More news to follow soon.
Our longest ever title in development, and currently the major test platform for the Game Template. The game itself is pretty much written, and it is only waiting on completion of the template for tweaking and bug fixing and any conversion work to be done to work with the new Template UI stuff.
Our first mobile game, a simple and fun shooter based affair. This is aimed for completion at the beginning of Q2 of 2012 and will be available on Android and iOS initially, but possibly other platforms as well.
And thats our plan. Stay posted for more news 🙂
Excuse the tenuous Starwars pun, but the 1st draft of the BMFC help files were released today on the BMFC WIP Thread on the TGC Forums.
We’re currently up to the 5th Alpha release now, thank you to all of you who have contributed towards testing and bug fixing, and an extra huge thank you to everyone who has >donated<
